At $22 billion, 2018 sees most exits by PE/VCs till date: The Times of India

A ToI article quotes Venture Intelligence data on Private Equity & Venture Capital exits in India: Driven by the Walmart-Flipkart deal, the year has so far seen nearly $22 billion worth of exits till date through more than 160 deals, according to data from research firm Venture Intelligence . While 2017 saw $14.5 billion for the whole year, previous years saw less than $10 billion. Analysts point out that while the Flipkart deal contributed to a chunk of the deal size in terms of value ($12 Billion), the mood among investors also favours exits. "IPOs, M&A exits and acqui-hires have contributed to the 165 deals so far. Among IPOs, the engineering firm Varroc went public where Tata Capital sold its entire stake in the company. An article by The Ken  quotes Venture Intelligence data on investments and exits by Bessemer Venture Partners in India: According to data shared by Venture Intelligence, BVP India earned 3.27 times the return on its investment in online marketplace Snapdeal in a secondary share sale to SoftBank in 2015. This was ahead of the drop in valuation of Snapdeal from its peak of $6.5 billion in 2016 to $850 million in 2017. BVP India’s other exits include TaxiForSure (which was sold to Ola) as well as companies like Matrimony.com and Shriram City Union Finance being publicly listed. BVP India has invested in 47 companies in India since 2004 when it set up an India office. PE exits through IPOs cross $1 billion in 2017: Mint

A Mint article quotes Venture Intelligence data on Private Equity and Venture Capital Exits through IPOs: In yet another successful year of exits, private equity (PE) funds sold shares worth $1.17 billion in 2017 as their portfolio companies went public, data from Venture Intelligence shows.   The figure is almost 25% higher than the $935 million they sold through initial public offerings (IPOs) in 2016. In 2015, PEs sold stocks worth just $287 million in IPOs. Paytm Karo! VC Exits harvest over $1-B in first half of 2017

2017 is on track to becoming the best year ever for Venture Capital exits in India. Thanks to mega cash exits worth $650 million from One 97 Communications (the parent company of mobile wallet service Paytm), VC investors have harvested over $1 billion via exits during the first six months of the year, data from the Venture Intelligence VC Deals Database shows. The VC exit figures for H1'17 is comparable to the record highs in the first half of 2015 (which had witnessed large exits from companies like FreeCharge and TaxiForSure). Unlike the mega exits of 2015, which involved large stock swap components, the larger exits of 2017 are actual cash realizations. Dalal Street rally cheers PEs looking to exit - Economic Times

An Economic Times article, leveraging Venture Intelligence data, shows how PE-backed IPOs have fared in the recent stock market rally. Extract: According to data from PE and M&A data provider Venture Intelligence, 30 PE-backed companies listed on the bourses in the past two years — 16 in 2016-17 and 14 in FY16. Manufacturing provides larger exits than IT in 2016; KKR enjoys bumper year

M&A deals account for 43.7% of exits, Venture Intelligence data shows Private Equity exits in India declined by 18% to $7.86 Billion (across 215 deals) during the calendar year 2016 compared to an all-time high of $9.55 billion (across 270 deals) in 2015, according to data from Venture Intelligence, India’s longest serving data analytics firm focused on private company financials, transactions and valuations. The exit value includes $7.33 Billion of Complete Exits; the remainder being partial ones. These figures, which include exits from Venture Capital type investments and exclude exits from Real Estate investments, take the total realization by PE firms in the five year period starting in 2012 to about $33 billion (across 1,032 transactions).  19 exits – i.e. 9% of the total deals – were over $100 million in value and accounted for 58% of the overall value harvested during the year. PE investments up 24% to over $10-B in 2011, but dip QoQ

Private Equity firms invested $10,117 million over 441 deals in India during the 12 months ending December 2011, compared to $8,187 million across 362 deals during the previous year, according to analysis by Venture Intelligence, a research service focused on Private Equity and M&A activity. These figures - which include VC investments and exclude PE investments in Real Estate - take the total investments by PE firms over the past five years to about $47 billion across 2,062 transactions. The latest Venture Intelligence data however reveals that PE investments in October-December 2011 declined to about $1,456 million (across 105 deals) compared to the $1,828 million invested (across 88 deals) in the same period in 2010 and $2,334 million invested (across 109 deals) in the immediate previous quarter. “The amount of PE capital deployed has declined for the fourth successive quarter in keeping with the economic uncertainty and the decline in public markets,” noted Arun Natarajan, CEO...

PE investments vault to $3.3-B in Q1’ 11

Amount invested more than doubles over previous quarter; Median Deal Size jumps to $14.5-M Private Equity firms invested about $3,296 million across 83 deals in India during the quarter ended March 2011, according to a study by Venture Intelligence ( http://www.ventureintelligence.in ), a research service focused on Private Equity and M&A transaction activity in the country. The amount invested during the quarter was higher than that during the same period last year (which witnessed $2,133 million invested across 81 deals) and over twice that of the immediate previous quarter ($1,515 million across 83 deals).
