Ernst & Young and Avendus claim the No.2 & No.3 slots
The Venture Intelligence League Tables, the first such initiative exclusively tracking transactions involving India-based companies, are based on the value of PE and M&A transactions advised by Financial and Legal Advisory firms.

Citi, which advised the $2 Billion acquisition of the Indian business of American Tower Corporation by Brookfield, topped the Venture Intelligence League Table for Transaction Advisors to M&A Deals during H1 2024. Ernst & Young stood second advising 8 deals worth $1.5 billion. Avendus followed with 7 deals worth $1.2 billion. KPMG ($1.1 billion across 5 deals) and JM Financial ($900 million across 4 deals) completed the top five.

Among the other larger M&A deals in H1 2024 (other than the ATC-Brookfield deal), Ernst & Young, KPMG and Deloitte advised $1.1 Billion acquisition in PNC Infratech 12 Road Projects by Highways Infrastructure Trust. Kotak Mahindra Capital, Goldman Sachs, Ernst & Young and KPMG advised $615 million strategic sale of Capital Foods by Tata Consumer Products. Avendus, JM Financial, Ernst & Young, KPMG and Barclays advised the $554 million buyout of Shriram Housing Finance by private equity firm, Warburg Pincus.

Ernst & Young topped the table in terms of deal volume with 8 deals. Avendus and PwC took the second spot by advising 7 deals each. KPMG took the third spot by advising 5 deals, followed by JM Financial and Singhi Advisors who took the fourth spot with 4 deals each. o3 Capital, Metta Capital Advisors LLP, L Point Advisors and Veda Corporate Advisors advised 3 deals each.

Inclusive of its roles in due diligence and related advisory activities, Ernst & Young topped the table, advising 74 deals worth $20.9 Billion followed by PwC with 41 deals across $18.5 Billion. KPMG took the third spot advising $14.1 Billion. Goldman Sachs stood fourth advising 2 deals worth $9.1 Billion. HSBC completed the top five with 1 deal across $8.5 Billion.
In terms of deal volume, Ernst & Young took the top spot advising 74 deals. Followed by PwC advising 41 deals. KPMG took the third spot with 29 deals. Grant Thornton India (16 deals) and BDO India (8 deals) took the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.
