Jefferies tops League Table for Transaction Advisors to M&A deals in H1'23


JP Morgan and InCredMAPE claim the No.2 & No.3 slots

Jefferies & Co topped the Venture Intelligence League Table for Transaction Advisor to M&A Deals during H1 2023, having advised the $1.1 Billion buyout of HDFC Credila by a consortium of Private Equity investors. JP Morgan ($487 million across 1 deal) and InCredMAPE ($387 million across 2 deals) took the second and third spots respectively. o3 Capital ($211 million across 4 deals) and Investec ($152 million across 1 deal) completed the top five.

The Venture Intelligence League Tables, the first such initiative exclusively tracking transactions involving India-based companies, are based on the value of PE and M&A transactions advised by Financial and Legal Advisory firms.

Among the larger M&A deals in the latest quarter, Jefferies & Co. advised the $1.1 Billion acquisition of HDFC Credila by Baring Asia and ChrysCapital. JP Morgan acted as the advisor to the $487 million acquisition of Virescent Renewable Energy Trust by IndiGrid Trust. InCredMAPE advised the $345 million acquisition of the FMCG business of Raymond Limited by Godrej Consumer Products.

Ernst & Young topped the table in terms of deal volume with 7 deals. It was followed by o3 Capital and Singhi Advisors, taking the second spot having advised 4 deals each. Avendus took the third spot with 3 deals.

Inclusive of its roles in due diligence and related advisory activities, Ernst & Young topped the tables with deals worth $10.1 Billion. PwC took the second place having advised deals worth $3.8 Billion. RBSA Advisors stood third with deals worth $2.6 Billion. They were followed by Grant Thornton India ($1.12 Billion) in the fourth spot.

In terms of deal volume, Ernst & Young stood first with 63 deals. The second spot was held by PwC having advised 38 deals. Grant Thornton India and BDO India took the third spot with 13 deals each. KPMG (12 deals) and Unithos (8 deals) took the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.

PE-VC investments fall 29% in 2022 to $46 Billion

Press Release: Private Equity - Venture Capital (PE-VC) firms investments in India fell by 29% in 2022 compared to the record highs of 2021. Aeka Advisors and Ambit claim the No.2 & 3 slot Avendus topped the Venture Intelligence League Table for Transaction Advisor to Private Equity Transactions for Q1 2023 advising 5 deals worth $808 million. Aeka Advisors stood second having advised 3 deals worth $228 million. Ambit followed with 4 deals worth $160 million. Ernst & Young ($114 million across 4 deals) and o3 Capital ($80 million across 2 deals) completed the top five for Q1 2023. Avendus acted as advisor to ADIA’s $500 million investment in omnichannel eyewear retailer Lenskart .
