Venture Intelligence Legal Advisors Standing - 2024; Advisors from AZB & Partners, Burgeon Law and CAM take top positions
Ashwath Rau of AZB & Partners was the country’s top legal advisor for Private Equity deals (by deal value) in 2024, having advised on transactions totaling INR 14,000 crore. Urvish Shah of India Juris followed, securing deals worth INR 5,827.94 crore. Representing India Juris, Pankti Shah ranked third with INR 3,155.95 crore, with Raghubir Menon of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co and Sumit Sinha of Phoenix Legal, rounding out the top five.
In terms of deal count, Abhisshek Singlla of Burgeon Law took the lead with 80 deals. Urvish Shah of India Juris secured the second spot with 75 deals, showcasing his versatility in handling both high-value and high-volume transactions. Anisha Patnaik of LexStart Partners ranked third with 73 deals, followed by Sumit Sinha of Phoenix Legal and Ankit Guha of Argus Partners, who completed the top five.
In the Mergers and Acquisition category, several lawyers have demonstrated exceptional expertise in structuring and executing large-scale transactions. Vaidhyanadhan Iyer of AZB & Partners led the tally with INR 18,000 crore, emphasizing his role in some of the year's most prominent M&A deals. Ashwath Rau, also from AZB & Partners, followed in second place with INR 17,000 crore, reinforcing the firm’s dominance in high-value transactions. Harvinder Singh of DSK Legal also made a strong impact with deals worth INR 8,480 crore. Raghubir Menon of Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas and Aparajit Bhattacharya of DSK Legal completed the top five rankings.
In deal count, L. Viswanathan of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas stood out with 20 M&A deals. Satish Kishanchandani of Pioneer Legal followed with 15 deals, while Harvinder Singh and Nakul Batra of DSK Legal each advised 12 deals each, showcasing their expertise in high-volume transactions. Sumit Sinha of Phoenix Legal rounds out the top performers with 11 deals.
