Ernst & Young and Kotak Mahindra Capital claim the No.2 & No.3 slots
Avendus has topped the Venture Intelligence League Table for Transaction Advisor to Private Equity Transactions in the first nine months of 2021. Avendus advised 33 PE deals worth $8.3 Billion during the period. Ernst & Young stood second having advised 20 deals worth $7 Billion. They were followed by Kotak Mahindra Capital with 8 deals worth $3.2 Billion. Credit Suisse ($1.02 Billion across 2 deals) and Ambit Corporate Finance ($1 Billion across 10 deals) completed the top five in the period.
Among the largest deals in Q3 2021, Avendus and Kotak Mahindra Capital acted as the advisors to the complete exit by PE-VC investors in Billdesk (via the digital payments provider's acquisition by Prosus Ventures-backed PayU). Avendus also advised edtech firm Eruditus’ $650 million fund raise from Accel USA, SoftBank Corp, and CPPIB, which saw the company become India’s 61st unicorn. Standard Chartered Bank acted as the advisor to Advent International’s $598 million buyout of Shapoorji Pallonji Group’s stake in Eureka Forbes Limited.
The Venture Intelligence League Tables, the first such initiative exclusively tracking transactions involving India-based companies, are based on the value of PE and M&A transactions advised by Financial and Legal Advisory firms.

Avendus topped the tables in terms of deal volume advising 33 deals during 9M 2021. It was followed by Ernst & Young with 20 deals. Unitus Capital took the third spot with 14 deals. iDrive Capital and Veda Corporate Advisors completed the top five with 13 and 12 deals, respectively.

Inclusive of its roles in due diligence and related advisory activities, Ernst & Young topped the table having advised 72 deals worth $21.4 Billion followed by Avendus with 33 deals worth $8.3 Billion. KPMG took the third spot having advised 18 deals worth $6.8 Billion. RBSA Advisors (5 deals worth $5.8 Billion) and Kotak Mahindra Capital (9 deals worth $3.3 Billion) came in fourth and fifth position respectively.
Ernst & Young topped the table by volume having advised 72 deals. BDO India took the second spot with 59 deals. The third spot went to AVA Insights having advised 36 deals. Avendus (33 deals) and KPMG (18 deals) completed the top five.
