Allegro Advisors tops League Table for Transaction Advisors to M&A deals for Q1 2022

PJT Partners and Citi claim the No.2 & No.3 slots 

Allegro Advisors topped the Venture Intelligence League Table for Transaction Advisor to M&A Deals for Q1 2022. Allegro advised 2 deals worth $3.3 Billion. International firm PJT Partners ($3.3 Billion across 1 deal) and Citi ($2.2 Billion across 2 deals) took the second and third spots respectively. Axis Capital and Credit Suisse ($1.625 Billion across 1 deal) took the fourth spot and Arpwood Capital ($1.623 Billion across 1 deal) completed the top five.




The Venture Intelligence League Tables, the first such initiative exclusively tracking transactions involving India-based companies, are based on the value of PE and M&A transactions advised by Financial and Legal Advisory firms.

Among the largest deals in Q1 2022, Allegro Advisors and PJT Partners acted as the advisors to the $3.3 Billion acquisition of Viatris’ biosimilars business by Biocon Biologics (a subsidiary of publicly listed Biocon). Axis Capital, Citi, and Credit Suisse acted as the advisors to Axis Bank’s $1.6 Billion acquisition of Citibank’s consumer business in India. Citi and JM Financial advised the $593 million acquisition of IDFC Asset Management Company by a consortium comprising Bandhan Financial Holdings Limited and private equity investors GIC and ChrysCapital.

Ernst & Young topped the table in terms of deal volume with 5 deals. It was followed by Edelweiss Financial Services in the second spot having advised 4 deals. Avendus, JM Financial, and MGB Advisors took the third spot with 3 deals each.

Inclusive of its roles in due diligence and related advisory activities, Ernst & Young topped the tables with deals worth $10.6 Billion. Allegro Advisors took second place having advised deals worth $3.3 Billion. PJT Partners stood third with deals worth $3.3 Billion. They were followed by Citi ($2.2 Billion) and PwC ($1.7 Billion) in fourth and fifth spots respectively.


In terms of deal volume, Ernst & Young stood first with 32 deals. The second spot was held by Transaction Square having advised 14 deals. RBSA Advisors took the third spot with 8 deals. BDO India and Edelweiss Financial Services took the fourth and fifth spots having advised 5 and 4 deals, respectively.
