Avendus topped the Venture Intelligence League Table for Transaction Advisor to Private Equity Transactions for the 6 months ended June 2022, advising PE-VC deals worth $4.1 Billion. Ernst & Young stood second having advised deals worth $807 million. JM Financial ($770 million), Citi ($593 million) and PwC ($577 million) completed the top five for H1 2022.
The Venture Intelligence League Tables, the first such initiative exclusively tracking transactions involving India-based companies, are based on the value of PE and M&A transactions advised by Financial and Legal Advisory firms.
Among the larger private equity deals in Q2 2022, Avendus acted as advisor to Mobile Content and News aggregator Unicorn Dailyhunt’s $805 million fundraise from Sumeru Ventures, Luxor Capital, Ontario Teachers Pension Plan, Sofina, Baillie Gifford, and CPPIB. Ernst & Young advised the $775 million purchase of six toll road projects from Welspun Enterprises by Actis. Citi and JM Financials advised the $282 million acquisition of IDFC Asset Management Company by a consortium comprising Bandhan Financial Holdings Limited and private equity investors GIC and ChrysCapital.

Avendus also topped the tables in terms of deal volume having advised 19 deals during H1 2022. It was followed by Unitus Capital with 10 deals. DPNC Advisors took the third spot with 9 deals. IndigoEdge, Ambit, Veda Corporate Advisors and Boon Capital took the fourth spot with 8 deals each. PwC took the fifth spot with 7 deals.

Inclusive of its roles in due diligence and related advisory activities, PwC topped the table, having advised deals worth $13.74 Billion followed by Ernst & Young with deals worth $9.42 Billion. Avendus took the third spot having advised deals worth $4.1 Billion. KPMG stood with $4 Billion, while Transaction Square completed the Top 5 with its deals worth $836 million.
PwC also topped the table by volume having advised 93 deals. Ernst & Young took the second spot with 66 deals. The third spot went to AVA Insights having advised 40 deals. BDO India (32 deals) took the fourth spot, with KPMG (29 deals) completing the top five.
