Ambit Corporate Finance topped the Venture Intelligence League Table for Transaction Advisor to Private Equity Transactions for the year 2019. Ambit advised PE deals worth $2.4 Billion (across 4 qualifying transactions) during the period. Citi ($1.1 Billion across 2 deals) and Avendus ($969 million across 12 deals) took the second and third spot. Edelweiss Financial Services ($758 million across 9 deals) and PwC ($708 million across 15 deals) completed the top five in 2019.
The Venture Intelligence League Tables, the first such initiative exclusively tracking transactions involving India-based companies, are based on value of PE and M&A transactions advised by Financial and Legal Advisory firms.
Ambit Corporate Finance advised the $1.9 Billion buyout of Pipeline Infrastructure from Reliance Industries by Brookfield Asset Management and the IFC and I Squared Capital-backed Cube Highways' acquisition of Delhi-Agra Toll Road from Reliance Infrastructure (Reliance ADAG). Citi advised GVK Airport Holdings’s $1.1 Billion fund raise from ADIA, PSP Investments and NIIF.
Among the largest deals in Q4, JM Financial advised Brookfield's acquisition of multiple assets of Hotel Leela which paved the way for Brookfield's entry into the Indian hospitality space. Avendus advised Softbank’s investment into Lenskart.com, helping push the startup into the coveted Unicorn club.

Unitus Capital topped the tables in terms of deal volume with 20 deals during the year 2019. Avendus and Creedcap Asia Advisors came in second with 12 deals each. IndigoEdge took the third spot with 10 deals followed by Edelweiss Financial Services with 9 deals. PwC and IEG India Corporate Finance shared the fifth place with 7 deals.

Inclusive of its roles in due diligence and related advisory activities, PwC took the top spot with $12.6 Billion across 132 deals, followed by Ambit. The third spot went to BDO India with $2.4 Billion across 46 deals. Citi was at the fourth position advising deals worth about $1.1 Billion followed closely by Transaction Square.
