Arpwood Capital tops League Table for Transaction Advisors to M&A deals in 2019

Arpwood Capital topped the Venture Intelligence League Table for Transaction Advisor to M&A Deals for the year 2019. Arpwood advised M&A deals worth $4.1 Billion (across 5 qualifying deals) during the period. Ambit Corporate Finance ($3.4 Billion across 6 deals) and Deloitte ($2.9 Billion across 12 deals) took the second and third spot. Ernst & Young ($2.9 Billion across 10 deals) and KPMG ($2.2 Billion across 8 deals) completed the top five.


The Venture Intelligence League Tables, the first such initiative exclusively tracking transactions involving India-based companies, are based on value of PE and M&A transactions advised by Transaction and Legal Advisory firms.

The largest deal advised by Arpwood Capital was the $3 Billion merger between GRUH Finance and Bandhan BankAmbit Corporate Finance advised Brookfield's $1.9 Billion buyout of Pipeline Infrastructure from Reliance Industries. Deloitte advised the acquisition of Rural Electrification Corporation by Power Finance Corporation. KPMG and Axis Capital advised Larsen & Tubro's hostile takeover of Mindtree Consulting.

Deloitte topped the table in terms of deal volume with 12 deals. Ernst & Young followed closely advising 10 deals. PwC and KPMG shared the third position with 8 deals each. Singhi Advisors and Avendus took the fourth place with 7 deals each. Ambit Corporate Finance, RBSA Advisors and BDO India shared the fifth spot with 6 deals each.


PwC tops tables including Other Advisory Services

Inclusive of its roles in due diligence and related advisory activities, PwC topped the tables by both value and volume with $12.1 Billion across 58 qualifying deals. RBSA Advisors took the second place advising $8.2 Billion across 18 deals. Deloitte stood third with 36 deals worth $6.6 Billion. This was followed by BDO India (21 deals worth $4.5 Billion) and Arpwood Capital (5 deals worth $4.1 Billion) in fourth and fifth place respectively.

By deal volume, PwC stood first with 58 deals. Deloitte came in second advising 36 deals which was followed by BDO India with 21 deals. RBSA Advisors (18 deals) and Transaction Square (13 deals) took the fourth and fifth spots respectively.

PE-VC investments in Q2'23 decline 33% to $9.9 Billion

Private Equity-Venture Capital (PE-VC) investments in India during the quarter ended June 2023 (Q2'23), at $9.85 Billion across 182 deals, registered a 33% decrease compared to the same period in 2022 (which saw $14.6 Billion being invested across 371 deals). The investment amount however rose 74% compared to the immediate previous quarter (which saw $5.7 Billion being invested across 181 deals), shows data from  Venture Intelligence , a research service focused on private company financials, transactions, and their valuations. The PE-VC investment figures for the first 6 months of 2023 - at $15.5 Billion (across 363 deals) - was 50% lower compared to the same period in 2022 (which saw $31 Billion being invested across 800 deals). Aeka Advisors and Ambit claim the No.2 & 3 slot Avendus topped the Venture Intelligence League Table for Transaction Advisor to Private Equity Transactions for Q1 2023 advising 5 deals worth $808 million. Aeka Advisors stood second having advised 3 deals worth $228 million. Ambit followed with 4 deals worth $160 million.
